“It’s looking more like Wednesday when it will be finished.” “ We basically had to take everything apart in the engine.”

Dandy, so maybe by day 13 the car will be done. Or maybe Daender and I will rock the Challenjetta down to Daytona, though by that time, SC Lemon Law is eligible.

Kinja'd!!!

On a positive note, the dealer sent me a survey... Before the car was done.

That sucks!  Well at least the lemon law does exist, someone once told me that SC doesn’t recognize lemon law.

30 days.

30 Days in the service bay?  I thought it was a combo of days out of service and number of attempts to rectify the issue?

30 non-consecutive days for the same problem.

Upper oil pan is the story now.

I'll be driving down to Daytona too. I flew into Orlando last year but there aren't any decent flights this year

Subaru did my cam seals two times before they got it right, then replaced the short block the following year.

Fun! With as many hours as they’ll have on it, I wonder if just replacing the whole engine would have been more cost effective lol.

It’s only 5.5 hour drive, so it’s not too bad. Me and a couple of other people are planning on grilling out Saturday night in Lot 5(I believe), though I’ll make a post or two before then.

I can't say I didn't expect a vw to end up in a shop, but I am sorry you have to deal with BS like this

The thing is, this gen by all accounts is reliable. This just seems to be an isolated issue, but a very in depth one.

That stinks.

Did you fill out the survey yet?

If you lemon-law- ed this GTI, would you get another to replace it?

Yes

Scathingl y, but honestly

Probably, but due to SC laws, I’d likely not have a choice.

Lot 5? By turn 1 tunnel? I was trying to get tickets for parking there but they only list lot 4 and front stretch.

I’d really rather not do lot 4 either because then you have to walk the full length of the stands to get to the best seats for stands.

Near turn 4. I have lot 4 parking, and that is better than not having a pass and having to cross the street. Last year that’s what I had to do, and they had no plan for Saturday parking.

That’s what I did last year too . I parked in an area behind a hotel. Walking to and from the car suuuucked.

I haven’t purchased any parking just yet because I may be able to park in the media lot for free (unlikely). But I’m tempted to put up the money for front stretch parking just for the convenience.

Actually, I haven’t even purchased t ickets at all yet. The fact that buying them online ends up costing more (by 2 bucks I think) is too annoying to me. I’ll just buy them when I get there.

I’m not surprised to hear it’s not just California VW dealers that suck major ass.

VW will never get popular if their service departments can’t pull their heads out of their asses.

My experiences have been with Ford and VW. When VW could learn from Ford, that's when you know you have issues.

The Mk7 is generally considered reliable. This one just apparently left the factory with a faulty oil pan.

I mean the same can be said about the big 3, too. I’ll take an oil leak or minor electrical issues over a new trans by 40k miles(that’s where the FiST’s was at, though the death whine began a bit earlier).
